San Jacinto Plaza re-opens to the public

It was the day many El Pasoans had been waiting for.

The construction work was complete and the gates were taken down.

Saturday, hundreds filled San Jacinto Plaza to watch the official opening of the newly remodeled San Jacinto Park.

In the opening ceremonies, Mayor Oscar Lesser apologized to El Pasoans for the long wait they had to endure as the park was renovated.

Food trucks and vendors surrounded the park as music was played for spectators.

City mascots joined in on the fun and greeted children throughout the park.

The festivities continue until 7 p.m.
