Hundreds visit Vietnam war memorial at Ft. Bliss
at a replica of the vietnam war memorial that has been on display at the fort bliss national cemetery. abc-7’s jerry najera was at the memorial he is live with the story … as i was shooting video at the memorial i heard many people say “there it is” when they foun the name of their loved one or friend. and it’s that moment that they feel a sense of connection. the memorial that has been displayed in states across the u.s. arrived in el paso wednesday. the wall also known as “the wall that heals” is half-scale of the actual memorial in washington d.c. it bears the name of the more than 58- thousand service men that died in the vietnam war. the wall has been open 24 hours for visitors-for the past 4 days. today i caught up with veterans who payed respect and honored their friends who they fought alongside with in the war. they say this visiting memorial along with other veterans is also a healing process for them. “oh the first thing you do is cry i feel they are true heroes..so it’s good therapy to talk to other service members hey how you doing share stories and memories” the memorial will be open overnight until tomorrow at 4 p.m.
