Chihuahuas fall to Fresno on road 3-0

Fresno starter Mike Hauschild pitched seven shutout innings in the Grizzlies’ 3-0 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Saturday night. Hauschild has now thrown 13 innings against El Paso in his career and has not allowed an earned run. Saturday was the second time El Paso has been shut out in 2016.

Fresno scored in the first inning on a two-out RBI single by Danny Worth. The Grizzlies added two more runs in the fifth on an RBI triple by Tony Kemp and a ground ball RBI single by Jake Marisnick. El Paso’s offense couldn’t get going against Hauschild or Fresno’s two relievers, as the Chihuahuas had just one runner reach second base in the game.

Saturday’s contest was completed in exactly two hours, the shortest nine-inning game in Chihuahuas’ history. The previous quickest game mark was 2:01 (June 28, 2015 at Tacoma). Jeremy Guthrie had his longest start as a Chihuahua, lasting seven innings and surrendering three runs.
