Chihuahuas explode for 17 runs in blowout win over Vegas

EL PASO, Texas – The El Paso Chihuahuas trailed 5-0 early but came back to win substantially by a 17-6 score Wednesday against Las Vegas. It was El Paso’s biggest comeback and largest margin of victory in 2016. The club’s 17 runs broke the team record for runs in a game, eclipsing the 16 runs El Paso scored against Sacramento on July 23, 2014. The Chihuahuas’ nine-run eighth inning also set a new team record, moving past the two eight-run innings accomplished previously.

The Chihuahuas entered play with the top team batting average in the Pacific Coast League and continue to hold that distinction after 17 hits Wednesday night. It was the second straight game El Paso collected 17 hits. The Chihuahuas’ team batting average is .303.

Rocky Gale went 2-for-3 with his first home run of the season and three RBIs. James Loney went 3-for-3 with two walks and three RBIs. Nick Noonan celebrated his 27 th birthday with three hits and three RBIs.
