El Paso VA cancels Thursday appointments due to power outage; normal operations resume Friday

El Paso VA Health Care System canceled all of its Thursday appointments due to a power outage.

On its Facebook page, the El Paso VA wrote, “Due to the power outage, all appointment and procedures are cancelled, including first shift Radiology. For Veterans who are currently on campus, providers will provide care within our capabilities.”

A VA spokeswoman told ABC-7 that the outage affected an area that is handled by both El Paso Electric and Rio Grande Co-Op Electric.

El Paso Electric said it has restored power to the area it handles.

The VA also said in its Facebook it will provide updates as information becomes available.

In a comment, the VA said, ” We are operating on emergency power.”
