continue to campaign out west, this as hillary clinton faces criticism once again for her emails, i’m abc’s stephanie ramos in washinton details …next” the jury in a trial of a former fort bliss soldier has been sequestered overnight after failing to come to a decision. plus— the trial continues today in las cruces for the former deputy accused of killing his partner. a very good morning el paso, las cruces, and juarez. i’m stephanie valle. and i’m hillary floren. good morning, everyone. a storm system will move through broke the rules with her private email server. her spokesman — saying she did nothing different than the secretaries of state who came before her. here’s abc’s stephanie ramos with the latest from the campaign trail. it’s your voice, your vote. on the campaign trail .. tagging along with hillary clinton.. is the controversy that has dogged her campaign from the start… her use of a private email server while she was secretary of state. sot: clinton well there may be reports that come out but nothing has changed clinton and her team slammed in a state department inspector general report that said her email set up disregarded federal standards and could have made sensitive material vulnerable to hackers. to that – clinton has said the private server was never hacked. but the state department investigation did uncover an attempt. sot clinton it’s the same story. just like previous secretaries of state, i used a personal email. many people did, it was not at all unprecedented. the new report confirming that another secretary of state also used private email accounts too. nats: protests. donald trump ..at the root of these chaotic demonstrations in anaheim, california ..just a day after violent protests in new mexico.. making an appearance on jimmy kimmel live. pouncing on the clinton email news and reverting back to his nickname for her. sot trump: “i hav come up with ‘crooked hillary,’ and you know what’s going on, she’s very crooked.” as for bernie sanders –who’s blasted clinton’s refusal to another debate– getting an invite from trump. sot trump: “if i debated him we would have such high ratings,” tag: it didnt take long for bernie sanders to respond to that challenge… taking to twitter writing…game on. adding he looks forward to debating trump in california before the june 7th primary. stephanie ramos abc news washington right now… the jury in the jan michael nieves trial is sequestered in a hotel… waiting to resume deliberations. after being unable to come to a decision yesterday — they were sequestered for the night. the former fort bliss soldier is accused of driving drunk and crashing into a construction site — killing two workers during closing arguments — the defense claimed a lack of barricades, lighting and a police officer asleep on duty at the on ramp — were all factors. prosecutors argued the defense was looking to shift the blame onto everyone else but nieves. nieves faces up to 40 years in prison if found guilty of intoxicated manslaughter. from our new mexico mobile newsroom … trial continues today for the santa fe sheriff’s deputy accused of killing his co-worker. police say tai chan shot and killed jeremy martin at the hotel encanto in las cruces back in 2014, a guest at the time testified he awoke to the popping sound of gun shots. moments later, he recalled hearing a man running down the hallway knocking on doors asking to be let in. a las cruces police sergeant on scene says chan was screaming and identified himself as a sheriff’s deputy before officers took him into custody. new this morning– some college students are ready to enjoy the summer break– others choose to continue learning. we spoke with utep students who are leaving the city to do just that. good morning el paso’s denise olivas is live … denise? paloma vianey martinez is headed to new york city for a prestigious summer internship– that she says was so challenging– she almost didn’t complete it. martinez is headed to the metropolitan museum of art in new york city. vianey is one of eight students selected for the met cloisters summer internship, a nine- week, paid internship take a look at her artwork– martinez is an art history major at utep and just completed her sophomore year. she will work in the education office of the met cloisters, a branch of the museum that specializes in the art of medieval europe. the application started with a pool of 200 students from across the nation. vianey was the only applicant chosen who attends a public university. she says it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity: “well i always like to leav this area…as an artists” her professor dr. max grossman says the art history program has only been arround for five years at utep. but it’s at the point where they are graduating and sending more and more students to top graduate schools and competitive professional programs. he says he proud to see the some of utep’s best and brightest representing el paso. the closure and recsontruction of the carolina bridge has been postponed again. the lower valley bridge was expected to close on may 31st, but now won’t be closed till at least june 7th. union pacific railroad is still working on re- opening cadwallader which should be complete in the next few weeks. and once that happens–drivers will have no other choice but to drive right past these railroad tracks. city rep. emma acosta held a public meeting to address the concerns. she said it’s better to delay the construction until the end of the school year — to avoid more congestion. construction of the bridge is expected to take about a year. 6-07… weather and traffic on the 7s… a storm system will move through northern new mexico today with continued dry weather and windy conditions expected for southern new mexico and far west texas today. after the system exits the region cooler temperatures and lighter winds will occur friday. dry and warm conditions with lighter southwest winds will occur through the memorial day holiday period and into next week. now it’s time to take a look at the tx-dot traffic cams… we have an abc-7 traffic alert: the commute on i-10 in west el paso will be congested today the left lane in both directions will be shut down between the buena vista bridge — or the so- called “bridge to nowhere” – and the asarco bridge. this will start at 9 a-m and last until 4 a-m today. . we still have much more to come here on gmep… “”i feel profound resentme against this self-centered and absolutely despicable crime.” the japanese prime minister scolding the president this morning while he’s on his historic trip in japan. why he’s about about with obama about a murder investigation. plus–severe weather hitting parts of the midwest overnight–is more expected in the forecast later today?
