breaking news this morning–signals being received in the mediterranean sea could be leading investigators closer to the wreckage of the missing egyptair flight. former president bill clinton is campaigning for his wife in new mexico this week — he’s coming to the borderland. / “donald trump versus the media, i’m abc’s kenneth moton in washington coming up i’ll tell you why the republican was on the defensive, and how hillary clinton responded.” plus–the u.s. state department is issuing a travel warning for the coming months — as many events may attract terror attacks. a very good morning el paso, las cruces, and juarez. i’m stephanie valle. and i’m hillary floren. good morning, everyone. a cold front and upper level disturbance will move across southern new mexico and west texas today and tonight generating showers and thunderstorms across much of the borderland. high pressure aloft will bring seasonably warm mostly dry weather tomorrow through early next week but there will be sufficient moisture in the air for isolated thunderstorms each day …especially around mountain locations. abc-seven with breaking news… breaking news this hour– a french ship has picked up signals from deep under the mediterranean sea, presumed to be from black boxes of the crashed egypt-air flight 804. on friday the chief investigator in the egypt-air plane crash said officials picked up a beacon in the mediterranean that they believed to be from the aircraft. all 66 people on board were killed when the plane was close to finishing its flight from paris to cairo. continuing our stormtrack weather coverage.. people in parts of southeast texas are dealing with record high flooding — and more rain is coming. yesterday, the brazos river reached over 54 feet in fort bend county. the national weather service says up to 3 more inches of rain are expected later this week. flooding along the brazos has killed six people in texas. now to complete election coverage — it’s your voice, your vote… former president bill clinton is heading to las cruces. he will be campaigning for his wife tomorrow. clinton faces democratic rival bernie sanders in the new mexico primary on june 7th. clinton’s campaign team tells us — the event will be held tomorrow, at picacho middle school, at 2:30 pm. the gates will open at 1:30. clinton and sanders are neck-and-neck in the battle for california. meanwhile, republican presidential candidate donald trump lashed out at the media over questions about millions of dollars raised for veterans. abc’s kenneth moton has the latest from washington. it’s your voice, your vote. this morning, the political talk is all about a defensive donald trump. the presumptive gop nominee took on the media after questions were raised about his donations to veterans groups. sot donald trump everyone is saying who got it who got it who got it and you make me look very bad in january, trump said he raised 6 million dollars for the vets. but trump’s campaign manager suggested the total was less. the billionaire just made his own million dollar contribution last week under mounting pressure to release the recipient list. when asked by abc’s tom llamas if he had a problem with exaggerating the truth, trump unleashed. sot trump i’m not looking for credit but what i don’t want is when i raise millions of dollars, have people say like this sleazy guy right here from abc, he’s a sleaze in my book. sot q: is this what it’s going to be like covering you if you’re president? trump: yeah, it is. hillary clinton called trump’s fundraiser for veterans a stunt on cnn. sot hillary clinton it took a reporter to shame him into actually making his contribution and getting the money to veterans but clinton still has her primary fight to worry about. bernie sanders has been crisscrossing california drawing huge crowds ahead of tuesday’s primary. sot bernie sanders if we win here in the largest state in our country, we’re gonna go marching into the democratic convention with incredible momentum the reality, clinton has a big delegate lead. clinton got a big endorsement from california’s governor jerry brown. tomorrow, she’ll kick off a 5-day swing through the golden state where polls have her and sanders in a dead heat. kenneth moton, abc news washington new this morning— the u-s state department has issued a travel warning for all of europe. ‘this alert was issued just as they always are, based on an accumulation of information and what we know continues to be an interest by terrorist groups to conduct attacks against western targets, and americans.” the state department spokesman said they are not aware of any specific, credible terrorist threat this summer. its something we have all seen in the borderland. wait times at the port of entries. but now city council is looking to change that. good morning el paso’s luke lyddon is live with more details … luke? hillary if you drive by the bridge of americas chances are you will see semis and cars backed up for what seems like miles. one option to hopefully fix that is send more traffic to a different port of entry. city council discussed yesterday the possibility of attracting more traffic at the zaragosa port of entry to alleviate the long lines at the bridge of americas. but in able to do this– there will need to be reduced tolls for empty commerical trucks. the standard fee would remain unchanged but a minimum fee would be set so for example an empty 3 axle commercial truck would cost 7.50 to cross and a minumum fee of 4 dollars. if you had the opportunity by there any time recently, what youll see is the traffic backs all the way up past the whattaburger past paisano, past 54, and cars are coming down piedras.” a final vote has not yet been set– but it’s a chance for drivers to finally get out of those long lines. so time will tell. back to you 6-07… weather and traffic on the 7s… a cold front and upper level disturbance will move across southern new mexico and west texas today and tonight generating showers and thunderstorms across much of the borderland. high pressure aloft will bring seasonably look at the traffic this morning now it’s time to take a look at the tx-dot traffic cams… we still have much more to come here on gmep— a man who went on a shooting rampage earlier this week that was killed by deputies in houston has ties here in the borderland. residents are set to return home today after a devastating wildfire that destroyed more than 2-thousand homes and businesses. and this is abc-7, where news comes first!
