Clint ISD grads inspire younger students

to reach out to all of its students… so its taking a new approach. the district is using its older students to connect with the little ones. abc-7’s darren hunt is live to explain … darren. the new program brings high school graduates back to their old stomping grounds. today we witnessed its impact first hand: “how exciting to come back to your old school, what’s this like for you?” “it’s so awesome!” horizon hig school graduates were paraded in front of cheering frank macias elementary school students. “it feels really good to be walking around the hallways seeing a bunch of motivated kids looking at you and just cheering you up, i just wish they had done this before … its really awesome, such a good experience.” “wouldn’t it have been cool t have this when you were in school here?” “yes of course. “at least you get to be a par of it now and now you’re the inspiration to these kids.” “i know and its such a blessing to be here and be an inspiration to others.” the graduates tossed t-shirts to the fifth graders, who will be moving on to middle school next year. “what grade are you in sal? fifth? fifth grade that means you are going to be a 2023 graduate of horizon?” “yes! “i did see some of my students, i am so proud of them … ” “it’s emotional?” “oh very.” second grade teache susie foster tossed confetti on the graduates as they walked past. “they worked so hard and they were so dedicated … so i told them, you’re going places, and they are.” “is this the reward for you?” “it is the greatest reward fo any parent, any teacher and more than anything the student themselves.” “what do you think it does fo your students now?” “i think it encourages them a lot … seeing the proud faces of these students, it makes the world of a difference for them … they will be talking with me this afternoon about it and they will be telling me, i can guarantee you, i will still expect you here miss foster when i walk down that hall.” clint’s superintendent says he got the idea from an east texas district and plans to do it again in the future. if you are just joing us… abc- seven is
