Chihuahuas beat Sacramento for third straight time Thursday night

EL PASO, Texas – The El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Sacramento River Cats 6-3 Thursday to win their fourth straight game and ninth of their last 11. The Chihuahuas have won three consecutive series and four series in their last five tries.

The game was tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh when El Paso sent nine batters to the plate and scored four runs. The rally included a sacrifice fly by Carlos Asuaje, a two-run home run by Jose Pirela and an RBI double by Jabari Blash. It was the third straight game that the Chihuahuas broke a tie score to go ahead in the sixth inning or later.

El Paso starter Frank Garces allowed one run in 5.2 innings Thursday and now has surrendered only three earned runs in his last 16.2 innings. Hunter Renfroe entered the game with the most extra-base hits in the Pacific Coast League and added three more on Thursday, going 3-for-4 with three doubles.
