Mokrasova in Ninth Place After Day One of Heptathlon

Sophomore Lucia Mokrasova had a stellar afternoon on her first day of competition in the heptathlon at the NCAA Championships. The Slovakia native tallied 3,480 points through the first four events and is in ninth place.

She started the day off with a time of 14.12 in the 100m hurdles for 942 points. She then followed that up with a season best clearance in the high jump with a mark of 1.66m for 806 points.

Her best event of the day was undoubtedly the shot put. She heaved the shot a personal best 14.15m for 804 points; the throw was the second farthest in the 24-athlete field.

She closed out the night with a personal best time of 24.56 for 928 additional points; the 24.56 ranked eighth-fastest in the field.

Mokrasova will close out the heptathlontomorrowwith the long jump (12:30 p.m. MT/espn3.com), javelin throw (1:45 p.m. MT/espn3.com) and the 800m run (6:13 p.m. MT/ESPN). Freshman hurdler will run in the finals at 5:12 p.m. MT on ESPN.
