Police shut down I-10 East near UTEP after deadly crash

Police shut down all eastbound lanes of I-10 because of a deadly crash near the Porfirio Diaz exit Thursday night.

The crash happened around 10:15 p.m.

The Executive on-ramp to I-10 East was closed, keeping drivers from entering the freeway, and drivers who were already on the highway had to exit at Executive and take either Paisano Drive or Mesa Street to continue eastbound.

Drivers are urged to exit the freeway at Sunland Park or North Mesa Street.

Police vehicles –and even a Border Patrol unit — blocked the freeway as officers began their investigation.

More details as we get them.
