YISD appoints six new principals

The Ysleta Independent School District (YISD) announced the appointment of new principals at the five elementary campuses: Constance Hulbert, Eastwood Heights, Glen Cove, Loma Terrace, and Vista Hills, as well as Riverside Middle School.

Leticia Gutierrez, current Lancaster Elementary School assistant principal, is the new principal at Constance Hulbert Elementary. She began her career in 1992 and has worked as a teacher, campus literacy leader, district early education facilitator, and instructional specialist. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso.

The new principal at Eastwood Heights Elementary is Raul Mendoza, current principal of Margaret Lundy Elementary in the El Paso Independent School District (EPISD). Mendoza has been an educator for 23 years, working as a teacher and administrator in the El Paso, San Antonio, and San Marcos areas. He earned a bachelor’s degree from UT Austin and a master’s degree from UTEP.

Margarita Mendoza has been named the new principal at Glen Cove Elementary after serving for three years as an assistant principal at North Star Elementary. She began her teaching career in 2004 in the Socorro Independent School District (SISD). She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from UTEP.

Former Edgemere Elementary Assistant Principal Lourdes Hinojosa has been named the new principal at Loma Terrace Elementary. An educator for 20 years, Hinojosa has taught bilingual education and dual language in grades 2-6, as well as Special Education in grades K-6. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from UTEP.

The new principal at Vista Hills Elementary is Judith Calderon, current assistant principal at Ysleta High School. She has been in education for 17 years, working as a teacher, counselor, and administrator at various YISD campuses. Calderon earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from UTEP.

In addition, the new principal at Riverside Middle School effective June 27 is Jonathan Valdez, current principal of Socorro Middle School. He has been in education for a decade, serving as a teacher and administrator at EPISD and SISD. Valdez holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from UTEP.
