Gang Unit investigating shooting at Budget Inn Motel arrests two men

Officers with the police department’s Gang Unit arrested two men in connection with the shooting that left a man seriously wounded Wednesday morning.

Matthew Acevedo, 19, of the 3500 block of Pierce; and Michael Escarsega, 22, of the 3000 block of Mobile, are charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Both men were jailed on $75,000 bonds. Police did not release their mugshots because the investigation is still ongoing. Investigators recovered the gun linked to the shooting, police said.

The shooting happened before 2 a.m. on the 5600 block of Paisano Drive at the Budget Inn Motel in Central El Paso.

Police said one person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
