of gun in particular has been focused on since the orlando shooting… the a-r-15. so what is it, and why would someone want to buy one? abc-7’s andrew j. polk talked with people in the business … and is live with the details. andrew? the ar-15 is not the weapon omar matteen used. he used a similar sig sauer rifle. gun enthusiasts say the ar-15’s customizability is the key to its popularity. it’s sometimes referred to as legos for adults, or like barbies for men – accessories for everything. at sportsman’s elite gun pro shop, they’ve seen a brisk sale of ar-15 style rifles recently… it’s a major part of their business. it has a lot of parts and accessories that can be added on to make an individual’s rifle unique and more suited to different roles. many companies make variants of the ar-15, ranging in price from several hundred to several thousand dollars. for civilians, only semi-automatic ar-15s are available for purchase new. it works much the same as weapons that look very different. “this guy with the wood stock this guy with the plastic stock – every time you pull the trigger, it fires one bullet. that’s it. you can’t just hold the trigger down and it just dumps the magazine. operationally, this is the same, and this is the same. but because of the way they look – this looks scary – all of the sudden we’re trying to ban something like this when in all honesty, this one is a lot more dangerous of a firearm than this one right here.” whatever you think about the ar-15, there’s definitley a lot of national attention on controlling the sale or access to it right now. coming up at 6, what sellers and local elected officials have to say about those efforts. estela? to stormtrack weather now– not exactly 100-
