TWC grant will allow EPCC and The Hospitals of Providence to train hundreds of workers

The Texas Workforce Commission presented a check of nearly $500,000 to El Paso Community College Wednesday.

The grant will allow the community college to partner with the Hospitals of Providence to provide job training to more than 300 people.

The training will mostly be based in medical fields like nursing, critical care, emergency and operating room care, chemotherapy infusion and respiratory therapy.

TWC Chairman Andres Alcantar, presented the check. “El Paso Community College is offering the customized solution that will help these individuals be successful in the workplace,” Alcantar said. “It’s a great investment in the community.”

The goal is to provide The Hospitals of Providence with qualified and trained individuals, Alcantar said.

After training, workers will be earning an average wage of $26 an hour.
