Medical Cannabis Expo underway in Las Cruces

The 2016 Southern New Mexico Medical Cannabis Expo is underway in Las Cruces.

The expo is being held Friday and Saturday at Hotel Encanto and offers informational seminars on the application process, as well as an expo with medical cannabis vendors.

Doctors are also on site to talk about the benefits of using medical marijuana.

Organizer Christian Maes says the expo is important because there are so many patients who need help and may not understand the full benefits of medical cannabis.

Maes also tells ABC-7 he hopes they can expand in the future. Similar events have been held in Albuquerque, but this is the first time it has been held in Las Cruces.

The line for application information was out the door Friday. Many patients say they hope to get more information on renewal and first-time applicants say they hope to replace prescription drugs with medical cannabis.

The expo will be held until 9 P.M Friday and all day Saturday.
