Man wanted for murder in Mexico deported
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers turned over a man wanted for aggravated homicide to Mexican authorities Friday at the Stanton Street Bridge.
Daniel Ramirez-Villanueva, 39, had been living in the United States illegally. He is wanted in Sinaloa, Mexico, for the 1998 stabbing death of Jaime “El Mito” Gallardo.
Mexican authorities issued an arrest warrant for Ramirez-Villanueva on April 29, 2002, for aggravated homicide. On February 1, 2016, he allegedly entered the U.S. illegally near Laredo, Texas.
On April 27, 2016, Interpol issued a red alert notice requesting Ramirez-Villanueva’s arrest.
ICE agents in Denver arrested the man May 3. A week later, the attorney general of Mexico requested his extradition. The order was granted June 3rd.
