fireworks or do you prefer to watch? and where? rick cabrera is looking ahead to the holiday in abc-7 listens. don’t hate me … but while i think it’s wonderful that we celebrate our independence every july 4th … i’m not really a big fan of fireworks. but i also know i’m in the minority. from robert … “my gripe, complaint to the city: the 4th of july is upon us again with no citywide celebrations being held by the city. “we use to se them from cohen stadium or downtown. “are we not in th u.s.a. that we can’t see the city holding fireworks displays to celebrate our country’s birth? “not everyone goes t pop fireworks but to see them is a joy of celebration for our great country’s birth!” according to a city spokesman … the ban on fireworks within the city limits dates back to 19-56. and robert, there is a celebration put no by the city. spokesman rick isiais pointed toward the july 4th spectacular at the chamizal as part of music under the stars. that’s put on by the city’s cultural affairs department and the city of el paso museum. first there’s a concert by the el paso wind symphony from about 7 to 9:30 and then the fireworks will follow. admission is free. but it doesn’t end there … there will be fireworks on sunday the 3rd at cohen stadium as part of the el paso ice cream festival and after the chihuahuas game at southwest university park. then on monday … there are fireworks shows at western playland, wet n wild, the city of las cruces and there’s also the annual pop goes the fort at biggs park. that’s preced by a performance by the el paso symphony orchestra. so you do have some options. for the complete list … head over to k-v-i-a dot com and type in fireworks in the search bar on the top right. rick cabrera. abc-7 listens.
