Former UTEP golfer accepts invitation to play at Olympics
EL PASO, Texas – Former UTEP golf standout Gerina(Mendoza) Piller hasacceptedan invitation to play on the United States Olympic Team next month in Rio de Janeiro.

Piller qualified for theAmerican Olympic TeamSundayat the U.S. Women’s Open, where she tied for eighth place.Piller is ranked no. 15 in the Rolex Women’s World Rankings.
Anative of Roswell, N.M., Piller played for the Miners from 2003-07.She put togetherabanner senior year, winning the Conference USAchampionship.She was named the C-USAPlayer of the Yearand first teamAll-League.
Piller led Conference USAin scoringaverage that year (72.8) with four tournament titles.She began her pro career on the Futures Tour before earning full playing privileges on the LPGATour for 2011.
