UPDATE: El Paso Police report 25-year-old Jesus Rodriguez, the motorcyclist injured in a crash Tuesday, has died as a result of his injuries.
Original Story
Police arrested 57-year old Ricardo Favila and charged him with ‘Accident Involving Personal Injury or Death’ after a hit-and-run in East Paso.
The crash happened near Montwood and Tom Bolt at about 12:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Investigators said the motorcyclist, 25-year-old Jesus Rodriguez, was riding west on Montwood as Favila was heading east on Montwood. The two collided when the Favila attempted to make a northbound turn onto Mermaid, a police spokesman said.
Favila failed to yield the right of way to Rodriguez, according to a police news release.
The motorcyclist was rushed to Del Sol Medical Center, where he remains with serious injuries. Favila allegedly drove away without stopping to help Rodriguez.
He was arrested a short distance away outside a home on the 2500 block of Rudder. Police at the scene were seen searching a gray Toyota Camry with damage to its right side. Investigators confirmed Wednesday that was the car Favila was driving.
