Sun Belt coaches pick NMSU football to finish 9th in conference
NEW ORLEANS – The NM State football team was selected to finish in ninth place in theSunBelt Conference, the league announcedThursday. TheSunBelt Football Coach’s Poll is voted on by the head coaches at each football member of the conference.
The Aggies finished the 2015 season 3-9 overall and 3-5 in the SBC. After being chosen to finish in last place during the 2015 Preseason Coach’s Poll, the squad ended the season tied for fifth out of 11 teams.
The highlight of the season for the Aggies was a 3-0 run. First, they grabbed a 55-48 come-from-behind overtime win against Idaho on Oct. 31. NM State then traveled to Texas State, where they secured a 31-21 victory over the Bobcats. The Aggies captured their third win with a 37-34 victory at UL Lafayette. This was the first time the program won three consecutive games since 2004.
