EPISD closer to potential bond proposal

to board members on how to deal with the district’s shrinking enrollment and aging infrastructure. but there is some friction in the process. tonight– two members of the facilities advisory committee stepped down. abc-7’s stephanie guadian is live in the newsroom to tell us why. stephanie. the two are part of an 80 member group of parents and grandparents, members of the military and students. the committee is studying how to improve the district’s current situation. at a workshop meeting tonight— committee members considered proposals of school consolidations and new campuses. tonight– the goal was to come up with 8 proposals on how the district might move forward. those proposals will eventually morph into one — which will be presented to the e- p-i-s-d board for possible action– that could include calling for a bond. one school that is targeted for potential closing is beall elementary. zavala elementary could become the community school for the chamizal area. — which is why two committee members decided to step down. 1:42 11:14 mellissa martinez/ episd spokesperon says: 11:41 the two committee members who stepped down say they are seeking legal representation. the committee has until august 10th to present the board with their recommendations. rich and estella– back to you. more closures of i- 10 are expected on the westside of town. one reason will be to get rid of a bridge known as — the bridge to nowhere. it’s located over i-10 near the sunland park exit … just off of the buena vista neighborhood. no word on when the demolition will happen — tx-dot
