Crews will demolish the Paisano/US 85 Bridge Sunday, I-10 East will close 26 hours

I-10 East between the Sunland Park Overpass and the Executive Center Overpass will be completely closed for 26 hours starting at 3 a.m. Sunday July 24, TxDOT said.

Concurrently, two left lanes on I-10 West between the Executive Center Overpass and the Sunland Park Exit, will be closed for 26 hours. The closures were initially announced July 8th.

TxDOT said the closures will remain in effect throughout the day and night on July 24. I-10 East and the affected westbound lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday, July 25.

The closure is necessary so crews can demolish the westbound Paisano Drive (US 85) Bridge over I-10.

While the closure is in effect, crews will also be setting beams, repairing potholes on I-10, and working on a nearby culvert.

TxDOT said Eastbound vehicles will be forced to exit at Sunland Park Drive, take a left on Sunland Park Drive to North Mesa, then take a right on North Mesa to Executive Center Boulevard. Motorists will be able to reenter the freeway’s lanes via Executive Center.

Police officers will be stationed along the detour route to help keep traffic moving.

I-10 West, from the Sunland Park Exit to the Sunland Park Entrance Ramp, will be completely closed at the same time as the I-10 East closure starting at 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 24. It will re-open at 5 a.m. Monday, July 25.

TxDOT said this night time closure is necessary for the staging of a crane and the hanging of beams. The beams will be part of the new westbound Paisano (US 85) Bridges over I-10.

Westbound vehicles will take the Sunland Park Exit and re-enter I-10 West just prior to the Sunland Park Overpass. TxDOT said detoured vehicles will not have to stop at traffic lights or pass through the Sunland Park Intersection.

TxDOT provided this map, which shows the detours and closures.
