UTEP’s Darrin Laufasa named to Polynesian P.O.Y. watch list
EL PASO, Texas –Darrin Laufasa was named to the 2016 Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award Watch List, the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame announced onWednesday.
The fullback is a three-year starter and recorded 183 rushing yards on 33 attempts and a touchdown last season. Herushed for a career-best 85 yards on eight carries (10.6 avg.), including a career-long 66-yard touchdown run during a come-from-behind overtime victory at rival NM State. As afullback, Laufasa has been a major player in protecting the quarterback and creating holes for the running attack. The senior has paved the way for Aaron Jones to gain over 800 yards and 1,300 yards in 2014.
The award is presented annually to the most outstanding Polynesian college football player that epitomizes great ability and integrity.
