ABC-7 Listens 08.07.16

it’s become a fairly common practice … thanks in part to the constantly improving quality of pictures and videos taken with cell phones. as result … t-v stations across the country encourage their viewers to snap a photo or shoot some video when they come across a news story. just this month it allowed us to show you video of a house fire … … and a freeway covered in onions. it was those onions that caught fernando’s eye. “you 6pm newscast on wed. 7/13 had a video clip submitted by one of your viewers showing the onion spill on i-10 and copia. “why encourage viewers to record while driving?” i want to make this abundantly clear … we absolutely do not encourage viewers to take pictures or shoot video while driving. there are enough distracted drivers on the road already. our hope in many of these cases is that it’s a passenger that’s recording the video or snapping those pictures … or the person is at a safe location. to be clear … you will never hear us encouraging viewers to put their safety and the safety of others at risk. estela cas. abc-7 listens. monsoon moisture remains
