Family concerned about Rocky Horror Picture Show’s public screening

Should the Community Foundation play R-Rated movies in San Jacinto Plaza Park?

On Saturday, Rocky Horror Picture Show was shown at San Jacinto Plaza Park. The movie began at 9 PM and after the Chihuahuas game ended a number of families passed by the park, and the movie was visible from the sidewalks downtown.

A family reached out to ABC-7 about the issue.

According to the El Paso Community Foundation, who puts on the Plaza Classic Film Festival, they have never received a complaint about that movie, or any other R-Rated movie they show.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show has been shown for the past eight years, but the movie has traditionally been shown in places that are less visible from city streets.

No other R-Rated movies are scheduled in San Jacinto Plaza Park at this time.

Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of the most popular Plaza Classic Film Festival movies. It is shown each year and admission is free. The movie has an average attendance of about 3,000 to 5,000 each year.
