burrell college of osteopathic medicine– which trains future doctors to focus on the human body and it’s ability to heal itself– had its grand opening last week. the private school is located just south of nmsu’s aggie memorial stadium. abc7’s jamie warren spoke with some excited students today. she’s live from our new mexico mobile newsroom. jamie? there was a lot of back to school jitters from students i spoke with today. many of them coming from out of state on the east coast. some said they’re choosing to live on nmsu’s campus, others found apartments on their own. one student even complimenting the scenic organ mountains, after seeing them for the very first time. the students were dressed to impress for their very first day of medical school. we caught up with the 162 first year students as they were lining up for their lunch break after a long day of orientation and meeting their new professors. a lot of them had already made new friends. the ones i spoke with couldnt keep the smiles off their faces rory siegel, first year medical student 18:44:04 i’m just in shock first of all it’s my dream this is happening cause i actually interviewed one year ago so i’ve took a year of just waiting that dream world out there was it going to happen and it’s here larissa check, first year medical student 18:47:58 the simulation labs are awesome and everyone’s excited to have us here so i’m just like ahh! i’m excited like i want to study check said she plans on working at least two years as a doctor once she graduates. the students will receive their first white coats in a ceremony at the las cruces convention center on saturday. after the break… we hit the campaign trail. donald trump delivering a major speech on his plan
