8th annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive underway

Last weekend, ABC-7 spent the whole day working to save the lives of cats and dogs in need of a forever home.

This week, we’re focused on saving more lives as we take part in the 8th annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive. All weekend El Paso firefighters, police officers and Sheriff’s deputies are out for blood. They are challenging everyone to stop by and donate blood.

Donations are greatly needed here in El Paso and Las Cruces and it’s distributed to patients in 18 area hospitals.

On top of it all, you’re being asked to cast a vote! Donate blood and you will get a cool Battle of Badges t-shirt and you can vote for your very favorite first responders team!

Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 23 and younger, and donors who are 16 must have signed permission from a parent or guardian.
