el paso.. six employees at the texas department of criminal justice now find themselves on the other side of the law. it’s a story we have been working on all day – to bring you the latest developments. 5 parole officers and one counselor have been charged with tampering with government records. oscar nunez is facing five counts of records tampering. sergio galvan is facing three counts. he is a substance abuse counselor. luz quinonez faces two counts. jesus lara, cynthia leon and jessica ibarra are all facing one count. 5 were arrested thursday at the district office and one was arrested at their home. abc-7’s evan folan brings us the latest.. i spent a couple hours outside the district parole office trying to get answers .. several people turned me down – others didn’t even acknowledge me. but several parolees voiced their concerns. “do you work for the tdcj? no are you willing to comment on the investigation? no.” employees not wanting to comment on the ongoing investigation. “are yo aware of the investigation going on with the cdjc? no sir” and several parolees unaware of the accusations. “have yu heard that several parole officers were arrested yesterday for falsifying documents? no. has this happened to you? no” 5 parole officers and one substance abuse counselor accused of tampering with government records. “does it suprise you that some parole officers might be doing this? yes.” a spokesman from the tdcj saying several of the accused worked at the district parol office for more than a decade. parole officer jesus lara faces one count… after working with the department for more than 16 years. “he always does a good job. h takes care of me good.” his parolee wa surprised to hear the news. “do you know that he is one of the men accused of falsifying documents. i saw it in the paper – but he is real good.” the tdcj says these 6 accused will not return to work and will most likely be fired. bringing staffing numbers down to 33. which shouldn’t affect day to day operations. a parolees who used to report to one of the 6 charged was told today he will get a new parole officer. when he asked why he said the t-d-c-j didn’t give him an explanation – other than the fact that his parole officer no longer worked at the district office. a woman testified about a terrifying night when a man
