NMSU’s Larry Rose III questionable for season opener at UTEP

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Star running back Larry Rose III may be unavailable for New Mexico State’s season opener at UTEP after undergoing a procedure for a minor sports hernia, according to head coach Doug Martin.

Rose reportedly felt something was wrong last Thursday before practice.

The junior running back is officially listed as “questionable” for the Sept. 3 game at UTEP. He is listed as “probable” for NMSU’s week two game against New Mexico.

Many fans were hoping to see a matchup between UTEP running back Aaron Jones and Rose III in the season opener. Now, it’s possible only Jones will see the field that day.

Junior linebacker Derek Ibekwe also underwent surgery for a sports hernia. He is likely to miss both week one and week two of the season.
