Sheriff’s office identifies man killed in fiery crash near Horizon City
Sheriff’s deputies say Cecilio Portillo, 35, is the man killed in a fiery and deadly rollover near Horizon City Monday July 25, 2016.
The crash happened shortly before noon on 1-10 west at exit 38.
A spokesperson for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said a tractor-trailer and a work truck crashed. Due to the impact, the two vehicles went off the shoulder and came to a rest.
A TxDOT employee at the scene told an ABC-7 photographer the driver of the semi truck rear-ended a TxDOT vehicle.
A firefighter at the scene told ABC-7 the driver of the semi truck died although the sheriff’s office has not confirmed if it was indeed Portillo driving the semi truck.
The crash is still under investigation.
