Man allegedly points gun at motorist, ends up crashing into electrical transformer
Police arrested a man suspected of pointing a handgun at another driver during a road rage incident.
45-year-old Scott Swearingen, of the 4600 block of Mayfly Road near Organ, N.M., is charged with one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a fourth-degree felony.
The incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, August 18 on Roadrunner Parkway, police said.
Swearingen was “swerving and traveling extremely slow,” while driving a silver Ford pickup, when another driver passed him and honked.
The driver told police Swearingen pointed a handgun at him/her and started driving aggressively toward his/her vehicle.
Police officers responding to the 911 call witnessed as “the driver of the Ford ran a red light at Lohman, drove over a center median, and continued south behind a nearby business.”
The pickup ended up crashing through a rock wall and damaging an electrical transformer, police said.
Swearingen was detained and a black handgun was allegedly found inside his pickup.
