Saturday morning SWAT situation ends with one man in custody
One man in custody after a SWAT situation on the 10100 block of Buckwood Avenue in East El Paso.
Police said they were initially responding to a family fight call around 8:30 p.m. Friday night. When officers arrived, they learned a man turned violent during a fight. Police said the family was able to exit the home safely but the man refused to leave.
The SWAT team was then called out to assist police. SWAT team members attempted to negotiate with the man but failed. SWAT team members were then able to enter the house but the man reportedly attacked a SWAT member. He was quickly subdued afterwards. The officer suffered minor injuries.
Police said the man is described to be in his late 20s. Police said he will be charged with aggravated assault on a public servant. The man reportedly used knives and shooting stars to attack the officer.
