Zack Greenlee listed as starting QB on UTEP depth chart
EL PASO, Texas – Fresno State transfer Zack Greenlee is listed as the starting quarterback on a depth chart released by the UTEP coaching staff on Monday.
Greenlee has been battling for the starting role this summer with Kavika Johnson and Ryan Metz, both of whom saw action with the Miners last season.
The depth chart lists Metz and Johnson as co-backup quarterbacks, meaning it’s unclear who would get the nod if Greenlee were to go down.
Greenlee is expected to be the starter when the Miners open their season against New Mexico State on Sept. 3. He started five games with Fresno St. as a sophomore tallying 13 touchdowns and 6 interceptions before deciding to transfer to UTEP in the offseason.
Greenlee already has a degree from Fresno St. in mass communication and journalism.
He was widely considered the front runner for the starting job due to his performance in scrimmages over the past two weeks.
A dozen players from El Paso and Las Cruces high schools are listed as either the starter or the first backup on the charts released today.
