Investigators arrest boy, 12, in connection with school playground fire

A 12-year-old Sageland Elementary student has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to his school’s playground.

The fire was reported earlier this month on the 7900 block of Santa Monica Court.

The juvenile was taken into custody on August 23, 2016 and charged with Criminal Mischief, a First Degree Felony.

Crime Stoppers of El Paso assisted the El Paso Fire Department with the investigation.

The boy’s name and photo are not being released.
