Minerpalooza kicks off new semester, football season

Minerpalooza is dubbed the biggest party on campus at the University of Texas at El Paso and Friday night will be no exception.

The 26th annual pep rally and festival is expected to draw thousands to the UTEP campus for a night of live entertainment, a kids play area and activity booths.

UTEP officials said 20,000 people attended Minerpalooza last year.

Minerpalooza started as a small invitation-only alumni picnic at the center of campus and has transformed into an El Paso tradition.

Here what you need to know about Minerpalooza:

Friday
6pm-midnight
Sun Bowl parking lot P-9 at the corner of Sun Bowl Dr. and Glory Rd.
Free admission

Cost and Parking
Tickets are needed for activity boots in the main parking lot and inside Pete Playground
Tickets can be purchased at the North entrance of the Sun Bowl Stadium
$1 per ticket
Pete’s Playground will be open from 6pm-11pm

Free parking will be available around campus starting at 5pm
Shuttle from parking lot S-3 to Minerpalooza venue begins at 5:30pm and ends at 12:30am
Free parking in Sun Bowl and Schuster parking garages
Parking at Glory Rd. garage will cost $10

Admission to the Beer and Wine Garden is free
Must be 21+
Food can be purchased with cash or credit card only
