Freeway shuts down after early morning crash

UPDATE: I-10 completely opened up at 6:10 a.m.

A crash early Wednesday morning shut down the eastbound and westbound lanes on Interstate 10.

The crash happened under the Wyoming and Missouri overpasses near downtown just after 1 a.m.

According our ABC-7 ‘Round the Clock crew on the scene, two tractor-trailers and a car were involved. The car ended up underneath one of the semi-trucks. Debris from the crash landed on the eastbound lanes.

Emergency dispatch said one person was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

While police responded to that crash, another 18-wheeler jackknifed on the eastbound lanes.

The El Paso Police Department has not said if weather was a factor in the wrecks.

After rain showers Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, the freeway was slick with standing water.
