Chihuahuas win PCL Championship in thrilling extra-inning game

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The El Paso Chihuahuas completed their quest for the Pacific Coast League Championship Saturday night, knocking off the Oklahoma City Dodgers 4-3 in 11 innings.

It was the first game the Chihuahuas won all season in OKC in six attempts.

Jose Rondon singled on a pop bunt in the top of the 11th, scoring Patrick Kivlehan. The Dodgers were not able to respond in the bottom half of the inning.

The OKC Dodgers got the scoring started in game four thanks to an Alex Verdugo double in the bottom of the first inning.

The Chihuahuas would respond in the top of the fourth thanks to a Kivlehan double.

Hunter Renfroe would break the deadlock in the top of the sixth inning with a two-RBI single that gave the Dogs a 3-1 lead.

The Dodgers would then score a run in both the sixth and seventh innings to knot the game at three.

The Chihuahuas will play the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Tuesday in Memphis in the Gildan Triple-A National Championship game. The RailRiders are the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees.

The national championship is decided in a single game.
