Police identify man found dead in desert area in far northeast El Paso

More than a month after his body was found, the police department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit continues to investigate Devon Leatherbury’s murder.

On August 16, the 26-year-old was found dead in the desert area near the 12700 block of Dyer in far northeast El Paso.

That is near the Texas-New Mexico state line.

At the time, it was the city’s 10th murder of the year.

Police still have not said how Leatherbury died.

Investigators are asking for assistance from anyone with information about Devon’s death. The circumstances of his death is under investigation and anybody with information is asked to contact the El Paso Police Department at (915) 832-4400.
