New Mexico State police investigate fatal rollover in Las Cruces.
New Mexico State Police (NMSP) are investigating a fatal rollover that happened Friday evening around 7 p.m. on I-25 near mile marker 12.
According to an NMSP statement, a vehicle traveling on I-25 had a tire blowout and rolled onto the median.
Police had the northbound lanes shut down during the on-scene investigation.
Two children were in the back seat of the vehicle and were ejected.
One child died at the scene. Police identified the child as 13-year old Luis Armando Renteria Jr.
The driver of the vehicle, the front seat passenger, and a 5 year old child were transported to University Medical Center in El Paso. They are expected to survive.
