El Paso Children’s Hospital welcomes two new board members
Wednesday, El Paso Children’s Hospital announced the selection of the board’s eight and ninth members, bringing the board to full membership in accordance with its new bylaws.
Mica Short and Cindy Lyons Fields both have experience within the El Paso community.
Lyons Fields is a certified public accountant and a tax partner with Lauterbach, Borschow & Company, PC, El Paso’s largest local public accounting firm.
She spent a number of years working for a national accounting firm as a tax manager and owned her own firm prior to joining Lauterbach, Borschow & Company as a shareholder in 1997.
She attended Austin High School and the University of Texas at El Paso, where she received a BBA in 1980.
Short is the Community Relations Manager at Texas Gas Service, where she manages the company’s charitable giving, public affairs and United Way campaign.
Prior to joining Texas Gas Service, Ms. Short served as Executive Vice President at the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, where she oversaw the Chamber’s advocacy efforts at the local, state, and federal levels.
Ms. Short is a native El Pasoan, and a graduate of Loretto Academy. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, both from the University of Texas at El Paso.
“I am so delighted to welcome both Mica and Cindy to join our Board,” said Ron Acton, EPCH Board Chair.
“They bring a confluence of community and professional experience that will strengthen our leadership while adding more perspective to the key decisions we will make regarding our region’s only children’s hospital. Together, we will work to ensure our hospital stays at the forefront of pediatric care for El Paso families.”
Last month, El Paso Children’s hired new CEO Mark Amox. He will start Oct. 17.
The hires come more than year after the hospital filed for bankruptcy.
Amox is coming to the Borderland from Florida and brings more than 15 years of experience to the job. He is joining the hospital from University of Florida Health where he served as administrator and chief operating officer.
University Medical Center is also under new leadership. El Pasoan Jacob Cintron took over the job of chief executive officer back in July.
