Police seek driver in deadly July hit-and-run

Police continue looking for a driver who hit and killed a pedestrian July 23 in Northeast El Paso.

Mario Chavez, 60, was not on a crosswalk when he tried to cross Diana Avenue and was struck, police said.

The driver of the red and small- to mid-sized truck did not stop and render aid. Police said the truck was heading south on Diana.

Anybody with information is asked to call the El Paso Police Department at (915) 832-4400 or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers of El Paso at (915) 566-TIPS (8477).

Investigators released surveillance video they said show the truck.

Chavez’s death was the 41st traffic-related death of the year compared with 29 at the same time last year.
