Woman wins all expenses paid trip for 20 to see Dallas Cowboys
Have you ever bought a Texas Lottery scratch off ticket, lost and thrown it in the trash?
After this story you might think twice.
One El Paso woman lost on her scratch ticket off but ended up winning big. She won a all expenses paid trip to watch the Dallas Cowboys Vs. the Cincinnati Bengals after entering a second drawing online.
“Dear Virginia Fernandez, congratulations you’re entry has been selected,” Virginia Fernandez read out loud.
Fernandez read her official Texas Lottery Commission letter telling her she just won an all expenses paid trip to watch the Dallas Cowboys play over the weekend.
“It was just unbelievable. I couldn’t believe I had just won,” Fernandez said.
Fernandez didn’t just win -she won a package for 20 people.
“They are going to fly all of us from wherever in the United States round trip,” Fernandez said.
Fernandez’s family is going to stay at the Gaylord Texan Resort, enjoy a fully catered pregame party, get a tour of the stadium and watch the game from the AT&T luxury suites.
Virginia was in such disbelief: “I didn’t end up telling my husband until like three days later,” Fernandez said.
Virginias husband Carlos has been a Cowboys fan his whole life and to her it meant much more than a lotto win.
“One of my dreams was to always take him to a Cowboys game but you know it’s hard,” Fernandez said.
Both Virginia and her husband have never been to a NFL game and now there’s even a possibility they will get to watch the Dallas Cowboys practice and maybe even meet the coach.
“I’ve seen pictures of other winners with Jason Garret and Jerry Jones,” Fernandez said.
“I’ve seen it (the stadium) but from far away,” said Cowboy fan and nephew Ramon Sotelo.
Sotelo says he’s excited about watching his team win but: “What I want is for all of us to be happy, as a family because it’s a family environment and that’s the whole goal here,” Sotelo said.
Virginia’s husband Carlos was working at the time of the interview but says he was beyond excited and says it’s a once in a lifetime chance.
