Thousands of El Paso High alumni attempt to break world record
El Paso High School tried to set a world record for the biggest reunion during its Centennial celebration Saturday, but fell short by 700 alumni.
Alumni geared up in orange and black, and carried their check-in numbers as they lined up to be counted at El Paso High School’s stadium. Music played in the background as alumni from different graduating classes yelled and danced in excitement.
El Paso High School needed 3,300 alumni to officially break the record, but only 2,600 were in attendance.
The Tigers are also celebrating Homecoming, which culminated with the 85th Battle of the Claw, El Paso High’s annual football game with rival Austin.
Representatives from Guinness World Records were on hand to check in EPHS alumni. According the El Paso High Alumni Association, check-in at the official check-in stations began at 9 a.m. on the El Paso High School Campus.

Saturday:
9 a.m.—Guinness World Records check-in and Claw Game ticket pick up in the main hallway of EPHS, VIP reception and ticket pick up in lower level of EPHS.
11 a.m.—Homecoming Football Game | 85th Battle of the Claw vs. the Austin Panthers inside historic R.R. Jones Stadium.
12:30 p.m.—Alumni Orchestra Concert in Auditorium
2:45 p.m.—Approximately | Official Guinness World Records attempt at the Largest School Reunion ever
