El Dorado crushes Franklin, 69-14, in key district battle Thursday night

EL PASO, Texas – El Dorado used a 55-0 run to beat Franklin in a key 1-6A district matchup Thursday night at the SAC.

The game was tied at 14 in the first quarter when El Dorado quarterback Cedarious Barfield found Tyquez Hampton on a fade pass for an Aztecs touchdown. That was the first unaswered score of many for El Dorado, which tallied 55 straight points to cruise to a 69-14 victory over the Cougars.

Tyquez Hampton, a Utah commit, tallied four receiving touchdowns and two more rushing scores on the evening.

Both teams entered the night with a 2-1 record in district play – good enough for a tie for third in the league.

El Dorado has now secured sole possession of third in the district, trailing only Montwood and Americas, both of whom have yet to drop a district contest.

The Aztecs scored at least 20 points in each of the first three quarters before taking their foot off the gas in the fourth.

Franklin drops to 2-5 overall on the season, while the Aztecs improved to 5-2 overall.
