Estela Casas: Let go of fear and live the moment!
I’ve been the emcee for ‘Dance for Kids Sake’ several years now, but Saturday’s duties got me away from the podium and on the dance floor!
I’ve been asked to dance as part of the program, but I’ve been too shy – I am shy sometimes – and have always said no!
Saturday night, Mayo Alanen, professional dancer from Dancing with the Stars, swept me off my feet to the middle of the dance floor.
Within a matter of seconds, I was in the spotlight!
Just a few steps and turns. There was no music. We didn’t need music.
Mayo looked at me and with his eyes told me “you can do this.”
We had the music in our heart! That’s what dancing is all about.
But the experience went beyond dancing. It became a moment to realize that we have to seize every opportunity to fill our heart. I have taken a few dance lessons and I love to dance but I never imagined dancing with Mayo who, by the way is from El Paso!
It was unplanned. Spontaneous. Magical.
For a few moments I forgot about the 500 people inside the Plaza Theatre and I let go!
All of the dancers who competed left everything on the dance floor! ABC 7 weekend anchors Josie Ortegon and Evan Folan performed.
The cha-cha was exhilarating! They were amazing! It was an unforgettable evening!
It is a reminder to set fear aside and just let go. Savor the moment!
I did and made a beautiful memory!
Watch Dancing with the Stars tonight at 7:00 tonight and imagine yourself being swept away in the moment!
