Missing man’s sister: someone knows what happened to my brother

Police continue to investigate the disappearance of Ricardo Martinez.Martinez, last seen on October 30, 2015 near the intersection of Zaragoza Road and Vista Del Sol Drive.

Police said Martinez, 31, has a mental illness that requires medication.

“We’ve done extensive research, we’ve checked hospitals, we checked other places where he had been before and also international-type investigations, such as hospitals in Juarez,” said Detective Joe Ochoa.

Ochoa told ABC-7 that he suspects foul play because Martinez went from having an established routine to disappearing.

Martinez’s family members said they’ve been distraught about the situation.

“It’s affected us a lot …We miss my brother so much,” said Martinez’s sister, Reina Viramontes.

Viramontes told ABC-7 that Martinez was in foster care because of his disability.

“His caregiver hasn’t been able to provide us with any information of where he could have gone. She just said he went to Walmart that day and he didn’t return,” Viramontes said.

Viramontes said that despite her brother’s disabilities, he was a very kind person.

“My brother is a very giving person. He would give anything to anyone that asked him for something,” Viramontes said.

Nearing the one-year anniversary of Martinez’s disappearance, officials urge anyone with information to come forward.

“At this point we’re asking for any assistance in trying to find out where he may be or if there’s any information that could lead us to the foul play that we suspect,” Ochoa said.

Viramontes asked the public for any information as well.

“I know that someone out there knows what happened to my brother …we just want to know what happened to him,” Viramontes said.
