El Paso Live bringing WinterFest to downtown

El Paso Live is bringing a new winter event to downtown this holiday season.

The Hospitals of Providence and Providence Children’s Hospital is hosting WinterFest near the Downtown Arts Festival Plaza and surrounding areas. From Dec. 3 through Jan. 8, the area will have lights, food, holiday shopping, festivities and the coolest thing of all, an outdoor skating rink located near the Plaza Theater.

WinterFest will have affordable and free options for all ages. The festival’s ice skating rink is just $8 to skate. Military personnel will receive$1 off skate passes and children under 5 can skate for only $5. Special skate discounts will also be offered to patrons who donate specific items to help charitable organizations in their mission to being food and warmth to low-income El Paso residents during the holidays.

General manager of Destination El Paso, Bryan Crowe, said “as San Jacinto Plaza once again lights up for the winter season, we wanted to enhance the downtown visitor’s experience and create a new holiday tradition.”

Skate tickets go on sale on Nov. 23, 2016. Tickets, schedules and special festivities can be found at www.elpasolive.com soon.
