GO-10 project could finish early
The GO-10 project did not start of smoothly, “When we started this up we were at 20% of the time and only 5% of the completion”, said Bob Bielek with TxDOT. The initial contractor on the project defaulted and that put the Go-10 project behind from the start, but Bielek tells us they have caught up. “I think we’ll beat that, I think we will be done well before that”, said Bielek regarding the April 2019 completion deadline. Bielek didn’t speculate on when exactly that would be since they still have a long way to go with project. Until the constructions wrap up the headaches are likely to continue, “the byways also get congested and it takes for ever to get to places, which is a waste”, says Susi Holzner, one west El Paso commuter. There is more good news for West El Paso drivers, “In February we will see the opening of the Paisano to Doniphan connection and the McNutt and Paisano connection”, said Bielek. That mean another route will be available for west El Paso drivers. “When we have an accident on I-10 that ties everything up, people will have other alternatives”, adds Bielek.
