EPCSO increasing patrols this Thanksgiving weekend

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will be stepping up patrols this holiday weekend in hopes of keeping people from driving while under the influence. With funding provided by the Texas Department of Transportation under the 2017 STEP Comprehensive Grant, additional deputies will be on patrol. Deputies will be taking proactive measure with zero tolerance for drivers who are operating motor vehicles in a a hazardous or unsafe manner. El Paso County is a “no refusal” county. If a driver is arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and they refuse to give a breath sample, a search warrant will be obtained to get a sample of their blood. The blood sample will then be submitted for analysis to determine the blood alcohol concentration. The driver will be booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility either way.

EPCSO is urging people who choose to drink to find a safe ride home.
